Brand Name Blue Book Value Pricing For Used Cars!
When You go to the store I am sure when you look at a product some brand names will stick with you. For example items like drain-o or Brillo Pad are referred by those names instead of drain cleaner, or steel wool pad when you go to look for one of these products to purchase because those names were used by the first Manufactures of those products.
This same scenario applies to the pricing of used cars.My husband and his friend have been involved in restoring classic cars for many years. They work on the cars in the evenings and on weekends. They each have kept a couple of the old used cars that they have restored to good working order and are now fixing a few that they will sell for a profit. My son and his friend were talking about what they thought their profit would get out of their recently completed car and said they would check the blue book value against what similar cars were selling for at the car auctions, and then determine their sell price.
I have heard them talk about the blue book value of a car in the past, but I have never paid that much attention to where they were looking. My husband asked me if I could grab the blue book off of his desk. I went into the den and started looking for the book. There are a lot of books in my library so I thought it would be there but I did not see any blue books any where. My husband came into the den to see what was taking me so long. He walked up to a small tan book and said that this is what he wanted. I started laughing and said that I was feeling quite foolish. I was looking for a book that was the color blue. I did not look at the title of the tan book.
When the price of used cars were first published in an effort to establish uniformity in cost one company published the pricing they were published in a blue colored book and were referred to as the blue book value. Soon after other pricing publications came out from other sources but they were not as detailed, unbiased and accurate as blue book value so this is the measured that anyone who wants to get a value of their vehicle before they do any selling.
Today there are several reputable publications of car pricing, but they are all referred to as the blue book value of the vehicle. The details included inside the blue book are determined by the number miles, the manufactured year, any special options, and what kind of condition the vehicle is in. You can still dicker some pricing because there is some margin but the how a car is valued is pretty much set in stone.
